RIVERBROOK RESIDENCE NAMES THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Stockbridge, MA - Riverbrook Residence, a community of women with developmental disabilities, has elected three new Board Members, according to Executive Director Joan Burkhard. Susan D'Alessandro of West Stockbridge, Dr. Roberta Erena of Lee and Dennis Barquinero of Stockbridge have joined the Board of Directors of the residence, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.

D'Alessandro is a retired social worker who was associated with a number of Berkshire agencies throughout her career including Hillcrest, Berkshire VNA, BCARC and Hospicecare. "The staff at Riverbrook is extraordinary and they provide excellent programs, care and compassion for the residents. I'm delighted to be part of the Board," she stated.

Dr. Erena is a cardiologist who recently joined Berkshire Faculty Services of the Berkshire Health Systems. Prior to receiving her medical education, she earned a graduate degree in the philosophy of education. "Education and the philosophy that propels it has always been a keen interest of mine. As someone with a sister who has Down's Syndrome I know how important it is to provide a safe, comfortable and empathetic environment for people with developmental disabilities. Riverbrook is a model residence and I am proud to be on the Board."

Dennis Barquinero is the General Manager at Blantyre. Known throughout the Berkshire community for his work at the Red Lion Inn, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau and the Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce, his company has provided employment for residents of Riverbrook. "Riverbrook provides the residents with opportunities for learning, work and friendship. I look forward to serving on the Board and helping Riverbrook continue its mission," he notes.
